80% of bikes stolen from an owner’s home! – National Crime Intelligence Service (NCIS)
Data from the National Crime Intelligence Service (NCIS) demonstrate that it takes on average just 20 seconds to steal a motorbike worth more than £10,000. The report continues to say that over £3,000,000 worth of motorbikes are stolen in the UK every month.
The report by NCIS continues to explain how you can reduce the chance of theft and gives the following recommendations:
Improve motorbike security
- Buy additional security locks and remote alarms.
- Try and park in Motorcycle designated areas where ground anchors are found. Although there are not a large number of these areas, they are more secure and growing in number.
- If possible install a ground anchor at your home address and always keep the bike out of site.
